With over $1.7 billion in career transactions, Doug Leibinger is at the forefront of luxury real estate in Colorado, offering exceptional properties to some of the most accomplished people from around the world.
Recognized as the #72 Broker in the United States in 2022 by The Wall Street Journal/Real Trends and the #2 Broker in the Aspen/Snowmass luxury market in 2022, Doug has resided in the Aspen Valley for over 30 years and is a true expert. “Knowing all the nooks and crannies of the Roaring Fork Valley helps immensely when representing fine properties,” he says. “I have likely floated by a riverfront home with a rainbow trout on my line or skied past a home long before I represent a seller or a buyer when that property comes to market.” But when it does, there is no one better.
Known for his business acumen, affinity for technology and professionalism, Doug offers exemplary, world-class service. Doug has solid relationships with local architects, builders, designers, legal advisors, and land use consultants to assist his clients on all aspects of the real estate process, and he has assembled a talented support team for that express purpose, as well.
Of his most successful luxury sales, Doug proudly points to the Owl Creek Ranch Estate that was, at the time he represented the property, the highest priced listing not only in Aspen/Snowmass, but the entire state of Colorado. Originally listed at $70 million, the property was taken off the market at Doug’s urging so that the owners could make his suggested improvements. As part of his astute, multi-pronged strategy, Doug says, “I utilized a strong print and digital marketing campaign, including work by three different video teams, to implement different marketing tangents for exposure that culminated in a successful transaction. When we re-listed the property at $80 million, I was successful in getting the property under contract in four months and closed for $77 million.”
Assessing current trends, Doug sees an evolving landscape, not only locally but worldwide. “My sense is that safety, fresh air, fresh water, and time are becoming the aspects that well-heeled property owners seek. Focusing on those attributes is paramount to being able to have a dialogue with a prospective buyer and advising a seller as to how each property fits into that important mindset.”
As for Doug himself, “I’m a mountain person.” With “work hard, play hard” his driving force, he is a skier, cyclist, fly fisherman, and mountaineer, and also embraces the vibrant cultural life of his community with which he is actively involved. Supported by his wife Rebecca and three daughters, Doug says, “I am always happy to come home to Aspen.”
